The Spanish Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, opted today for “more Europe” in which there austerity policies but also of growth and above all a re-industrialization in the bloc.
Speaking to reporters at a conference organized by Vice growth and responsible community of Industry, Antonio Tajani, the Spanish minister said that Spain is committed to fiscal consolidation and spend only what you have, for reforms in Spain and Europe, but also for growth and to achieve “more Europe”.
“Europe needs austerity but also needs a growth policy which the austerity policy is a fundamental part. There are separate issues,” he said.
Within this economic growth, according to the Spanish Government, “re-industrialization in Europe is important” and has to come mainly from the sectors of the digital economy.
Therefore, Spain wants a “clear commitment, irreversible and unequivocal” by the information technology and communication, but also a clear commitment to renewable energy and everything involving energy efficiency, he said.
The austerity measures that promote growth “are not only compatible but absolutely necessary,” Soria said.
“There can be no economic growth if there is compliance with the deficit targets. It is a necessary and indispensable, but not a sufficient condition is also needed boost to growth that must come, in our opinion, by a re-industrialization of Europe and the country, “he said.
